Our Beaver Scout Colony has up to 24 boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 years old. We meet once a month on a Saturday during term time at the Scout Hall by St Mary’s Church, Battle.
Beavers wear a uniform and after a few weeks learning about Scouting and agreeing to make the Beaver promise, they are invested into our Colony.
The Beavers enjoy a wide range of activities within small groups called Lodges. Activities may include: making things, learning new skills, lots of outdoor fun such as toasting marshmallows over fires, and exploring the world around us by going on bug hunts or hikes in the woods. We also play a lot of games!
Our activities are planned into a balanced programme so each Beaver has a chance to achieve their Challenge Badges. These are completed by taking part in the regular programme we offer but also require the Beavers to do extra activities outside of meetings.
When all 6 Challenge badges and at least 4 Activity badges have been earnt, then the Beaver is awarded their Chief Scouts Bronze Award which is the highest award a Beaver can earn.
